Things to See and Do

Ruins of Pompeii

What can we say, we all know the main attraction is the archaeological site know as the ‘Ruins of Pompeii’ – We’ve written a whole post on ‘Visiting the Ruins of Pompeii’ here which includes all the need to know details, ticket prices etc >

The main sites within Pompeii include the Large Outdoor Theater, Amphitheater, Villa of the Mysteries, the Forum and the Basilica.

Shrine of the Virgin of the Rosary of Pompeii

The Pontificio Santuario della Beata Vergine del Santo Rosario di Pompei (in Italian!) is a Roman Catholic cathedral home to beautiful mosaics and paintings. It also has a Bell Tower which visitors can take a lift to the top and seeing stunning 360 degrees views of the old and new Pompeii.

Entry is FREE however they do charge a €2 donation take the lift to the top of the bell tower. Check out their website here >

How to get there

If you plan to stay with us, you’re in luck as its just a 20-minute drive from Villa Di Martino. By car the highway A3 Pompei Ovest exit leads directly to the archaeological park entrance, and there are a number of car parks near the entrances.

Circumvesuviana trains depart from Naples and Sorrento and you’ll want to get off at Pompeii ScaviVilla dei Misteri if heading to the ruins. If heading down from the North of Italy note that the Trenitalia line will take you to their Pompeii train station which is in the city centre and around a twenty five minute walk from the ruins.

Over the coming weeks we’ll be updating these pages with a summary of things to do, places to eat and drink along with other ‘need to know’ details, so keep checking back! In the meantime why not check out our latest journals here.

We’d also love you to give us a follow over on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.
